Multi-Extruder Ratio Control (M163 G-code Command Meaning)

The following explanation uses the Eazao M500 Pro as an example. You can adjust the M163 ratio based on your specific printer model and print results.

M163 S0 P1; Set Extruder Mix Factor

M163 S1 P0.56; Set Putter Mix Factor

M164 S0

Embedded within the initialization start_gcode are the multi-axis blending commands M163. S0 P1 governs the primary screw extruder factor, and S1 P0.56 defines the volumetric flow ratio of the linear actuator pusher. The screw extruder parameter P under channel S0 is configured as a baseline static constant of 1 and remains unaltered.

Elevating the value for the linear actuator parameter (e.g., changing S1 P0.56 to a highervalue) commands a higher volume displacement from the storage barrel, broadening the printed line width. Lowering this decimal value throttles the material flow rate, thinning the line width.

For instance, if the actual extruded line width is narrower than intended, recalibrate upwards:

M163 S0 P1

M163 S1 P0.58

M164 S0

Conversely, if the actual line width is too thick, throttle downwards:

M163 S0 P1

M163 S1 P0.54

M164 S0

Because different preparation batches of natural clay present highly distinct rheological and viscosity properties, when slicer width values diverge from practical physical output, fine tune the M163 ratio in increments/decrements of 0.01 or 0.1. Iteratively test until an optimal volumetric balance is met, without being bounded strictly by the example baseline coefficients.

Note: Do not excessively increase the 0.56 setting in S1 P0.56. Increasing this value too much will cause excessive mud to be compressed in the barrel and feed pipe, resulting in premature hardening of the mud and making it even more difficult to extrude smoothly.
